The Golden Cane Palm makes a very attractive indoor plant in a warm spot with filtered light.
Sometimes also called the Areca Palm or Butterfly Palm.
A decorative and very hardy tropical palm with up to a dozen golden coloured trunks but no main trunk that curve out from the base. This is a popular plant with landscapers as they look stunning around pools, patios and is an ideal potted palm in a sunny to partly shaded position free from frost.
Thrives in medium to bright light and thrive in full sun outside, This plant doesn't like low-light situations. When it doesn't get enough sunlight, two things will happen. The first thing you'll notice is that the plant starts to grow towards a light source. The second thing is that the its leaves will start to thin out and go brown.
Watering is always quite a tough subject when it comes to plant care, but not for this plant. The dypsis is a thirsty plant and likes to be watered as soon as the soil is dry.
If you're looking for a watering schedule to use for this plant, it's this: Water this plant once per week. It doesn't really matter which season it is at the moment, this plant loves to be in moist soil most of the time. Even though it loves to be in moist soil, it also likes to dry out slightly between watering if indoors.
Tolerates average indoor humidity. Prefers humidity.
Average home temperature of 21c and above though if you’re comfortable, your plant is comfortable. Avoid cold draughts.
How often should I fertilize my plant?
- In general, house plants will thrive when they are fertilized spring through fall. Fertilize once a month with an organic houseplant fertilizer, following the package instructions for dilution and administration.
